We are a family run aviary dedicated to providing exceptional care for both our birds and their parents. By intentionally keeping our operation small, we are able to ensure every bird receives individualized attention, quality care, and proper socialization.
We are a closed aviary, meaning the public does not have open access to our birds. All visits are by approved appointment only and take place at designated locations. This approach allows us to maintain the highest standards of biosecurity and health, which is our number one priority.
Our babies are weaned onto a high-quality pellet, fresh vegetable, and tree nut diet. Unlike many breeders, we feed very low seed, as excessive seed diets can be detrimental to long-term health. Our aviary is fully licensed with Florida Fish and Wildlife.
All babies are DNA sexed and come with a certificate of disease testing. Each bird is tested for PBFD, Psittacosis, Polyoma, and, when applicable, Borna virus. Our babies are well socialized, sweet-natured, and flighted to build confidence and strong physical development.

(c) As I sit here writing this review, I keep thinking back to that conversation I had with the other Feather Headz customer before we bought Snuggs. She had no idea she was helping Erika make a sale that day. Now I realize I’m doing exactly the same thing. If someone is reading this and trying to decide where to get their African Grey, I hope this gives you the same confidence that conversation gave me.

(a) We brought home our wonderful African Grey, Snuggs, from Feather Headz Aviary in November 2023, and she has become one of the greatest joys in our family’s life.
My oldest daughter and I actually flew to Florida together to pick her up, which made the experience even more special. From the moment we brought Snuggs home, she fit right into our family. People say five o’clock is wine time. In our house, five o’clock is Snuggle time. Every afternoon she wants to climb onto one of us, snuggle, and simply be wherever the family is. Whether she’s perched on a shoulder while we’re making dinner or quietly watching everything that’s going on, she just wants to be with us. She has an incredibly gentle personality and has grown up alongside our daughters, and even our dog. It’s hard to image our home without her.
Looking back, I appreciate even more how much of that started before we ever met her. Erika kept Snuggs until she was fully weaned and really ready for her new home. I remember she never seemed to rush the process. As first time African Grey owners, we had lots of questions, and Erika was always patient, knowledgeable and generous with her time. At no point did I ever feel pressured to make a decision. During those first few months after we brought Snuggs home, she’d occasionally check in to see how she was doing, and every now and then we’d send her photos of Snuggs with our daughters. You could tell she genuinely enjoyed seeing one of her birds become part of a family.
There was another reason we chose Feather Headz that has stayed with me all this time....

(b) Before we committed to bringing Snuggs home, I happened to speak to another Feather Headz customer for almost half an hour. She had already bought one bird from Erika and was there for another. What convinced me wasn’t just how much she loved her birds. It was how highly she spoke of Erika. She kept telling me how supportive she’d been over the years, and I still remember her saying, “Erika is someone you can trust.”
Now I know exactly what she meant.
Our family is getting ready to move from Massachusetts to Zurich, Switzerland, and of course Snuggs is coming with us. Anyone who’s looked into moving a CITES protected African Grey internationally knows it involves a mountain of paperwork.
I’ll admit, when I first emailed Erika, I wondered if she’d even remember us after all this time. Instead, she wrote back right away. Not only did she remember Snuggs, she immediately started giving me advice, reminding me not to wait until the last minute, helping me understand what paperwork I’d need, preparing breeder documentation, signing statements, and answering all of my questions. She never once made me feel like I was bothering her.
She didn’t have to do any of that.
It would have been perfectly understandable if she’d said, “I’m sorry, it’s been years.” Instead, she treated us with the same kindness she showed us the day we picked up Snuggs. That says a lot about the kind of person she is.

I purchased a young Mynah bird from Erika earlier this year and she’s absolutely wonderful! Erika did an amazing job socializing her and making sure she is in excellent health. Ericka is god sent for birds! After driving 11 hours one way and got scammed we found FeatherHeadz and got into contact with Ericka. I picked my sweet baby up from the airport yesterday. She is absolutely adorable!! I one hundred percent recommend this company. I will never use a different breeder. Erica is so wonder and knowledgeable about all birds. She spent so much time answering all my crazy questions not even know if I was going to buy a bird. We ended up with a Boujee a Hybrid Cockatoo and when I tell you she is so loving, beautiful and speical, it's hard to explain. I highly recommend Feather Headz Aviary. Erika hand raised my female Eclectus. I was able to pick her up and tour Erika’s extensive aviary, which is part of her home. Her birds are so well cared for and well socialized by living around Erika’s family and pets. Erika did such an amazing job with my bird that at only 19 weeks old she had no fear of dogs or new surroundings on the first day home. Erika is like a bird whisperer. She told me exactly what to do to get my bird to bond with me, including playing a specific song what the bird instantly reacted to by nuzzling up to my neck. Erika pays attention to every detail about her birds. Our bird was already weaned onto the proper specialized healthy diet for her species and Erika has been so amazing with information and advice. I have found Feather Headz Aviary to be the Very Best Breeder of Birds to deal with. My breeder of 25 plus years ago passed several years ago and I was looking to buy another African Grey. I went online and was thrown by all those claiming to have parrots for sale at low prices. After speaking with a couple I contacted Erica at Feather Headz. She made me very comfortable from the beginning. I have trust issues when it comes to giving someone online money for services but I took a Change with Erica. To make a long story short. Erika made the whole thing so easy from arranging for Charlie to be delivered to me to staying with me with her guidance, and continues help once I received him. Not once has she disappointed. Today Someone stole Charlie from my truck when I ran into the gas station. I came out and he was gone. I called Erika because she continued to be in Charlie’s life. After explaining what happened she immediately began to let me know what I needed to do to try to locate him. She went on Facebook and notified all concerned who could be of help. She spent endless time helping me to try to find Charlie. As the day wore on we stayed in constant touch. Finally, I got a call that he had been found. The joy in her voice, and in my hear is too much to describe. I didn’t meant to go one and one with my story, but if you or anyone you know is looking to buy a bird, I could not recommend not one better or trust worthy then Feather Headz. Hi Erika! It’s been 5 days since my new Mom and Dad picked me up and brought me to my new forever home. They keep calling me “Lucy” and say “I Love Lucy” in a funny voice all the time. Because of you, I’m adjusting really well! I’m really playful and I love all my new toys. About a month ago, I was in the market for a baby bird. I wasn’t 100% sure what species would be right for me and with so many scammers in the bird industry, I was hesitant. I stumbled upon Feather Headz on Facebook and sent a message inquiring about some birds. I expressed to Erika that I was a little unsure regarding what species would be the right match for me. She kindly offered to call me and answer my questions. We went over different species and what I was hoping for in a bird. I had a ton of questions and never once did I feel rushed. After the tragic loss of one of our sweet birds, we began to search for another sweet baby. Scam after scam is what I found. I came across a listing from a cockatoo in Miami, I was excited but very cautious. I contacted the breeder (featherheadz) I received a response very quickly. Via email Erika and I exchanged conversation. I was debating what to do when Erika contacted me back to let me know she was numerous potential individuals sending inquiries for the same bird, she wanted to make sure I was aware to not disappoint me if the bird was sold within the same day. Prior to this point, all conversations were via email. I shared with Erika my experience with scammers and why I was cautious to send a deposit. Erika was kind and beyond willing to help ease my mind to show she was not a scammer. She reached out to me over the phone, and she offered to video call me with the bird, I was able to verify her license, anything I asked Erika was willing to answer or provide information. After I put in my deposit she didn’t forget about me. She would often send me videos and photos of our citron cockatoo. The entire process was so smooth. Erika made us feel like a friend not just another customer. I went to her home to pick up the cockatoo. Everything was clean and beautiful. I know each bird she raises is raised in a “home” environment with lots of love and care. It was obvious that she not only feeds and cares for the birds she raises but she also works with them. Our citron was so loving and trained to step up. I would recommend.

Erika exceeded all my expectations! I just took delivery of a beautiful male Green Wing Macaw and a female African Grey from Erika and I could not be any happier. I searched long and hard for a trusted parrot breeder and it took 3 years and flying to Miami, Florida even though I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota to find someone I could trust would give me the best new family members. Erika has invested so much time answering my questions and making sure I got the right birds. Over the 6+ month process she sent me pictures of my birds from ugly and bald to beautiful and fully feathered. Erika is the most caring person to these exotic animals. She goes above and beyond to make sure their care is top notch. Her establishment is super clean. The animals are well taken care of. Each of the animals present with outstanding feathers, coats, or skin. Check out more than just one species pics. The animals can also go to any environment and be handled. They are not skittish or hesitant their first week at their new home. Meaning they are socialized to other pets, kids, and adults in the same household. Each baby is handled and fed the best diets available. Erica does her homework on each pet too. She shares her knowledge and experiences with new owners. She always answers your questions and concerns within a 24 - 48 hour timeframe. I still can't believe all her animals are this well cared for! Every one of the exotics are treated as her top priority. I don't understand how she finds the time. But she does!!! She bottle feeds babies every hour. Each baby is taken out of their cages daily. Video chats too! Erika follows up with you after receiving your perfect baby. No question goes unanswered. The white glove service? Erika has platinum!! I am so happy we found her. Once you have a baby from her, you never will wish to go anywhere else. Absolutely recommend her. Even the delivery process is made easily and conveniently to receive your baby. If you decide to get an exotic bird, the only place in the USA I would turn to would be Feather Headz, owned by Erika. All of her birds are hand raised in beautiful Florida sunshine and come with health certs. We got our beautiful baby Moluccan Cockatoo from Erika about two weeks ago and the whole experience could not have been better. Remarkably, Erika offers delivery of birds to your door or nearest airport. Flight Nanny Amy met us at Minneapolis Airport with the parrot in a travel carrier and within an hour our baby boy was safely in his new home. I have to say I am so beyond in love with feather headz aviary. Erika helped me decide on the baby I wanted to bring home as I was in between two different birds. She was so helpful from the moment I called her the first time throughout the entire process and even after I brought my baby home. Absolutely in love with my new baby caique from Erika. He’s a wonderful little bird and I couldn’t be happier. Erika was great, getting back to me quickly to answer any questions I had and happily met me at the airport, to bring him home. I took him to my vet the following day for his wellness checkup and even they were impressed with his temperament and socialization, just taking everything in his stride and playing with all the staff, as well as the fact that he had already been disease tested for everything they recommend. I can’t begin to express how amazing Erika has been and what a great breeder she is. When I first looked into buying an African Grey, I found a breeder who I thought I could trust. And then that breeder decided to cancel my deposit on me so she could keep the bird for breeding. Something like this makes it hard to want to try with another breeder. Then I found Erika and it has been a much better experience. You can tell she cares about her birds and wants to make sure they end up in a happy home. It isn’t about money, it is about the animal and their future. In reality, it seems Erik’as baby birds are a byproduct of her desire to have more critters as opposed to a means to make money. My husband found Erika and asked me if I wanted to check out her birds as I was very sad our IRN passed away. I'm so glad we did! The home was clean and birds looked happy and healthy. She answered all our questions, gave us papers with info on our new Caique and some seeds/pellets. We took our new baby to get checked out and got a clean bill of health, no bacteria or poly virus common in these breeds. our Nico is a happy and thriving baby always keeping us smiling!
